In a significant breakthrough, the Nigeria Police Force has arrested two political thugs, Edwin Obanor, 43, and Audu Tajudeen, 41, a PDP member from Ugbogbo quarters, Igara Akoko, Edo.
This development comes as the police intensify efforts to curb electoral violence in Edo State ahead of today’s governorship election.
According to Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force, the arrests were made during overnight raids. The police also recovered firearms from the thugs, demonstrating their commitment to dealing with illegal arms bearers and troublemakers.
Recently, the police have vowed to remain neutral and provide a level-playing field for all candidates. This assurance comes amidst concerns about potential police bias and voter intimidation.
