In a shocking turn of events, Nigerian music sensation Wizkid has lost two lucrative endorsement deals to rival artist Davido.
According to sources, Wizkid’s $1 million per year deal with sports brand PUMA expired, and he demanded $10 million to renew the contract, matching the amounts paid to Rihanna and Neymar. However, PUMA refused, citing insufficient sales from Wizkid’s collection.
In a surprising move, PUMA subsequently signed Davido for the same $10 million Wizkid had requested, sparking fury from the “Essence” singer.
Further reports indicate that United Bank for Africa (UBA) has terminated its $3 million deal with Wizkid, which began in 2020, and is now in talks with Davido to become their new brand ambassador.
Wizkid allegedly met with UBA Chairman Tony Elumelu to salvage the deal but was unsuccessful. This led to Wizkid publicly lashing out at Davido, accusing him of secretly negotiating the endorsement deals.
The development has sparked intense debate among fans, with many declaring Davido the winner in the endorsement wars.
