N70,000 New Minimum Wage: NYSC Breaks Silence

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has dismissed reports circulating in the media that it will begin paying corps members a minimum wage of N70,000 and has directed them to upgrade their accounts, saying such reports are “absolute falsehood”.

In a statement released on its Facebook handle @National Youth Service Corps, the NYSC management described the reports as misleading and urged corps members, parents, and the general public to disregard them.

According to the statement signed by the Director, Information and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, no directive has been received from the relevant government sector responsible for wage matters, making it impossible for the NYSC to issue any information on the matter.

The NYSC management reminded corps members of the approved channels and modes of communication in the scheme and advised them to ignore the false directive.

The statement also warned bloggers and social media influencers to stop issuing unauthorized statements concerning the management of the NYSC.
