In a move that could bring relief to Nigerians struggling with high transportation costs, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has mobilized over 100 trucks to the Dangote Refinery’s fuel loading gantry in Ibeju-Lekki, ahead of the refinery’s scheduled petrol loading on Sunday, September 15, 2024.
According to the company’s X post @nnpclimited, the deployment of trucks, with hundreds more en route, signals the beginning of a new era in fuel production and distribution in Nigeria. Industry experts predict that the increased fuel supply from the Dangote Refinery could lead to reduced fuel prices, which would, in turn, lower transportation costs.
“This is a game-changer for Nigeria,” said an industry source. “With the Dangote Refinery coming online, we expect to see a significant reduction in fuel prices, which would have a ripple effect on transportation costs.”
The Dangote Refinery, with a capacity to produce 650,000 barrels of oil per day, is expected to reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported fuel, leading to lower transportation costs and improved economic growth.
While the exact impact on transportation costs is yet to be determined, experts say that the increased fuel supply and improved logistics could lead to a reduction in transportation costs
In recent times, the NNPC Limited has assured Nigerians that it is working tirelessly to ensure a smooth transition to the new fuel supply chain.
